Electrical and control system design services

The vast majority of rigs, instruments, equipment and turn-key manufacturing units supplied by JFRH rely on the integrity of software based control systems to achieve safe and reliable operation. The design, testing and documentation of systems have been undertaken in accordance with a wide range of customer specific and regulatory requirements including BS EN 61508, LV and EMC Directives, ATEX, BS7671 and PUWER.

Control systems have been supplied to enable the safe and reliable control of the following generic types of remotely controlled equipment:

  • Reactor/vessel internal inspection
  • In cell remote handling equipment
  • Size reduction equipment
  • Decontamination equipment
  • Remote welding equipment

Experience of the processes and analysis associated with BS EN 61508 and an internal commitment to staff training and qualifications JFRH is ideally placed to meet SIL assessment challenges. Furthermore given existing capabilities with respect to Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Safety Case Assessments JFRH is able to present a comprehensive portfolio of capabilities.

With respect to continuous improvement and future customer needs, JFRH operates a policy of continuous development and training complemented by investments in software systems to manage code generation and version control including change and configuration management systems.

Company experience also includes the design and development of systems for use within hazardous (ATEX) zoned areas most notably with respect to gas cutting systems and methodologies and the potential of hydrogen rich environments.

JFRH have developed control systems to enable the intelligent control of multi-function platforms. One such platform utilises LASER scanning and solid modelling of random objects, supplemented by path planning, collision detection and collision avoidance capabilities and is able to deploy commercially available surface decontamination techniques.
